A Visit from Good friends on Oct 16th and the Newport Temple visit In Irvine, Calif. October 19th and meet up with friends.

So I was thrilled to pieces that my good friends and neighbors came here for a visit. They planned to spend Wed with me and then take their two youngest girls to Disneyland on Thur/Fri and hit the beach on Sat.
 Originally we had planned to have dinner and then go to the temple together. However, by the time they landed at 5:30 and got their rental car, it was 6 ish and traffic was still awful.  They didn't get here until neary 7:20 (Despite the fact that I am normally w/o traffic only 15 minutes from the airport.)
 So we decided to go and do baptisms at the temple. There was a lovely chapel off to the side of the baptistry, where we were able to visit quietly while we waited.  
Afterward, I took them over to see the Family search Library where I  spend most of my time. It is across the street/parking lot from the temple. I was able to introduce them to some of my friends, and Sister Cordon, the mission's president's wife. She is very sweet. I also introduced them to Sister Wei from Taiwan and they had a great time speaking to her in Mandarin. They both served missions in Taiwan when they were younger. 
When the Library closed we headed over to my apt to show them around, a mini-tour. We exchanged some gifts and took pictures. I was given some homemade cinnamon rolls by them from my friend in Utah (Rose W.) They took back a part of my sewing machine that I had left in the care of a neighbor.
 Fran also brought the digital scrapbook, that I made her for her birthday.y So I could see how it turned out. Then they drove off, only to come back a few minutes later and snap these pictures. We had all forgotten to do so, because we were having such a great time..
Fran is one of my dear friends, and her husband is like a brother to me. I adore all their children and consider them fondly, as adopted nieces and a nephew.

I wrote a long post, but it wouldn't publish. So I renewed the page and it ate it.  

So  I had an enjoyable Saturday. I worked on Wed so I could be off on Saturday.
On October 19th I drove down to New Port Beach to meet my friends the Farnes. Carries (below) and I have been friends for 43 years. We met when she was 18 and I was 16. She spoke at a stake conference that I attended and shared her conversion story along with her " wait" to get baptized. That resonated with me also because I had to wait until I was 18 to be baptized.  I talked to her after stake conference and we hit it off immediately. We became fast friends despite the fact that we attended different high schools. We have stayed in touch over the years.  even when I was in Europe, and then when she was living in Utah and I was living in California. For a few years we lived in the same state then I moved to Utah and she remained here. We wrote to each other snail mail, then eventually emails, and occasional phone calls and texts.  She kindly housed and hosted me several times for a few weekends here and there over the first year that Daniel moved to San Diego. This enabled me to visit Daniel more often and be present for his family weekends. Her husband treated us to Lunch at the Islands. A nice restaurant with simple good food at reasonable prices. I tried their teriyaki burger which was quite nice.

I met Estreniah in the library a few months ago. We got talking, about life. I was helping her with the family search for a bit. She is nanny here, and it was her night off.  She had majored in Sociology and me in psych. We both love kids and had a lot to talk about. She sent part of her later life in foster care. So someday she wants to be a foster parent too. Which lead to our discussion about the challenge of raising children who have experienced early trauma. I introduced her to another Sister to help her. A few days later she came again with more questions. This time the questions were about the church.      We are only allowed to answer questions about family history and bear a brief testimony about why we do family history work, I did just that.  We are not allowed to proselytize in the Library.  We want people to feel comfortable coming here.  Since she still had more questions I introduced her to the younger Sister missionaries  ...

Nice laundry facility A couple from my district. Her husband was a total crack up. They are serving in South America. what a great sense of humor and quick wit. The couple on the right were newlyweds. Their spouses both passed away within a year of each other. They met at the St George temple and became friends and then 6 month later ended up getting married. Then a year later they decided to go on a mission and  have been called to serve in Somoa. They were darling. Wished I was going with them. This couple was our "ohers" that we practiced teaching on/ They are serving in Africa and were wonderful. He taught at the Unversity in Logan for years. They are awesome.. I Miss them. this was our fabulous teacher on the left Sister Farnsworth. She would make a great daughter in law hitn hint. So I needed to shorten this dress nearly 19" for a sister Missioanry that was returning home. this is the skirt that I made Katie for her birthday. Brief doggie commercial. I miss Roxy and Toby. nd results of the dress, we ended up adding a four-inch ruffle to match the ruffle on the sleeves.
