Wow time is flying by.... I can't believe that I have been here nearly three months...
So much to catch you all up on.
Well to start with I have been sorely missing our " Finding Christ in the scriptures" series on Tuesday night. They had a summer break. We start again tonight, I am excited. The teacher is really amazing. I just found out that not only is he a CES (Church Education System) teacher at the UCLA institute, but a Bishop of the singles ward.
We have had some fun musical firesides recently with talented pianist, and musicians which have been nice. One lady who is a regular at our library, and is always writing music and performing places did a patriotic evening for us. Which I quite enjoyed. Not only is she a talented pianist but her soprano voice surprised me totally. In the library she speaks with a lower voice but she belted out these songs in a strong delightful soprano voice. I was blown away, particularity seeing as she is quite senior to me.
We have new missionaries arriving nest week and some that are headed home , (having finished their service.) We are getting a lot of missionaries from Utah and Idaho this time around. A few from foreign countries as well.
I suspect I may be called up for service to help in the kitchen preparing food for the missionaries which is fine by me.
As for happenings . Sister Cordon made all of us senor missionaries a street taco luncheon. It was really yummy and the meat she prepared (via crock pot) the chicken and the beef was delicious. I don't know what she seasoned it with but it was great. I had three tacos with fixings. Her spread of fixings included a salad bowl size of chopped avocado which I enjoyed very much.
She also had made black beans, and her own pico de gaillo with fresh ingredients.
She also warmed up the tortillas which was a nice touch.
I am not a cilantro fan so I passed that up. We also had a few salads as well. I noticed that the Mission president really tucked away the food. He went back for a second plate also. Obviously he likes his wife's cooking more than American food.
We had out standard water melon special cut up by Brother M, from the front office. As usual they were many scrumptious desserts that we eat some of. However the rest usually goes to the missionaries upstairs in the Visitor Center or Elders who come into the front mission office.
I had to pass on the fresh strawberry pie due to my allergies. So I sampled a lemon bar which I thought was a good as my mom's.

The party also doubled for Sister G who had finished her mission ,
homemade pico de gaillo
Fresh limes authentic and extra cilantro. Sam and Matthew would have enjoyed this.
