Cedar Sinai Medical Hospital/ ER like LA traffic but good care

September 9th, let's liven things up a bit...

Well, I am just glad to be out of the hospital! I went in Monday afternoon to the ER, with some left chest pain to just get a simple EKG. Then they kept me there much to my surprise.
It turned out that everything was fine, after several blood tests , ultrasounds, CT scans, two I.V.'s, EKGS and becoming a human pin cushion etc.  You don;t get any sleep there, that's for sure.

An albuterol treatment took care of the pain and the problem ending up being expired inhalers?! Which we discovered on my discharge Wed am.
I had been exposed a week earlier to some PInesol fumes (while they were cleaning the chairs in the library) which set off a chemical reaction in my lungs causing them to burn and feel like someone was twisting my main air tube.
So Painful I had to leave the library for the entire day.
Apparently, it created some irritation between my lung lining and chest wall which is what sent me to the ER to get it checked out.
Once they gathered my family history and asked about a few other odd symptoms I was having they decided I wasn't leaving.
The care was quite good ( despite their not having a room for me in teh ER till 5:30 am ) and one of the ER doctors knew me. HE came out and checked on me personally in teh ER waiting room much to my surprise.
He is the stake President of my stake (ward) where I attend church on Sundays. He checked on me at least half a dozen times that evening. He even went and got me a tray of food because I was starving and it had been nearly 12 hours since I had had lunch.
I got a room in an overflow unit Tues am around 7 and pased out for abt 4 hours until they started runnign me around for tests etc.
By Tuesday evening they gave me an actual room, and teh CNA offered me a bed bath since I wasn't allowed to shower due to the heart monitor on me. To be honest it felt great becuase I was hot and sweaty. She thanked me for allowing her the opportunity! Are you kidding me. She even washed my hair which felt gross and oily.

I was exhausted by the time I got home Wed am, and slept 15 hours yesterday to this morning(thursday). They also discovered a small leak in one of my heart valves. However, nothing to be concerned about.
I still am supposed to go see the heart Dr. for a followup in two weeks anyway. ffortunately my lungs showed no signs of COPD which was good to hear.
In any event, I met a lot of interesting people from all over the world , through all the various testing, etc.
I was so bored and couldn't sleep, (i was on a gurney in teh ER hallway until 5 am Tues am. )That I decided to binge-watch "Downton Abbey" in preparation for the movie coming out next week. Several of us senior missionaries are going as a group.
Headed to bed been a long day.....

postnote:  stake President Rudd came to the library today and checked up on me. I was very touched that he was so concerned for my welfare.
