Time Flies when you are busy....

I have been hemming up pants for Elders

or restitching the hems that have fallen out

The The Laundry facility . The apts at night are well lit for safety and we have 24 hour security

My over night visitor. The Cordon's had company coming, and asked me to watch their dog over night. I think their guest had allergies? ANyway Amy the dog was very well behaved, never barked and slept on her blamket at teh end of my bed the whole night. I returned her in the morning. It was nice having someone to talk to. She is a St. Charles Caviler. My son Ben has one. They named her Angelina. She is a sweet heart.

she shecke dout my couch and explored my porch in the morning.

A ukelele performance group for our fireside Sunday night. I was surprised at how many of the songs that I knew. There was a variety of folk, popular, movie tunes. It was nice. Some of our missionaries got up to play along with them. The group had brought spare ukeleles.

I saw this and really liked the message.
One thing for sure my kids are all very different individuals.

Our mission president wants us to celebrate the day of the dead. So I am experimenting with creating the bread for this occasion.

Monday night we had a fun CLAM  (stands for California Los Angeles Mission) dinner with all the Senior missionaries serving here. The theme was Mr. Potatohead. It was cute. We had a big potato bar that we had all contributed toppings too. The tables were decorated with potato headpieces and parts. They had also found a coloring book of various Potatie people ad colored and labeled them to match our personalities. Mine was this one and I thought it was because I am up moving around a lot. When I turned it over it said because I was so fun.

I also watched a youtube video to do surgery on some fat ties, see below. I learned how to turn them into skinny ties see to your right. The missionaries were thrilled.

I can't remember if I told you that every Friday morning I tutor Sister Cordon in English.
It is a lot of fun and a nice break from the library.

Ohh, now I remember. Sister Cordon caught a cold from her house guests. She came down with it the day after all the missionary greetings. I went over and doctored her up on Wed night  (my pday )with oils and medications. (She needed help cleaning up the chairs and tables, however when I told her husband what I was there for. He told me not to worry about it. He imemdiately took care of it.
The next day he called Elders to take down and put the tables away)
I also took Sister Cordon some ginger, onion, garlic, chicken soup. I had whipped up for her. She couldn't smell anything but she said she could feel the soup going down her throat.

The next day she told me how well she had slept. She had asked me if I could help her clean her home becuase the cleaning lady was on vacation and she was sick. They had a very important guest coming to stay with them Friday and she wanted things to look nice. SO Thursday am we worked for about for about 2.5 hours and got the whole house cleaned. It is a big Spanish kind of looking home with furnishings that carry on the ambiance of the Hispanic missions of old.
We ended up having lunch together and then I had to leaver for my shift at the library.

Friday I went to the library and we had our tutoring session later that afternoon. So every time I saw her I put more oils on her. She said it really helped her.  She apparently suffers from asthma like me.

She paid me a sweet compliment this week. She told me I was a great example of true ministering.
I really enjoy spending time with her.

She reminds me of a lot of Georginia Pereya (our honorary Aunt) from La Paz, Bolivia. She lived with us for a few years working during the days. In the evening she was my mother's helper. She was a whiz in the cleanup dept. In fact, the highest praise we ever got for doing chores was if we had done a "Georgina job".

Since Sister Cordon is a lot like her, fast and a very efficient cleaner,
I have given her the nickname of Hummingbird.

Saturday she texted me and asked me how I was doing. She was worried I would have caught her cold. I told her I was a little lonely and bored. She promptly invited me over for dinner on Sunday.
So I went over this Sunday at 5ish and we prepared dinner together. When it was ready she woke her husband up. Then we had a nice dinner, the three of us,. We had chicken with garden peppers and onions, with a chicken sauce over pasta. She also made some sausages, had some fruit, and cooked carrots. They offered me dessert of ice cream but I passed it up, due to my lactose intolerance.

I then left for the fireside, which was starting.
They needed to get ready for zone conferences that were this week. The fireside was enjoyable

ok got to go my bed is calling me
