Sunday August 4th Church and the beach

August 4th
While Lucy's parents recovered from the last two days, Lucy and I went to church. (I found out later that the missionary rule about being alone with a child includes family kids as well) However, she sat through Sacrament really well and attended primary on her own with the other kids.
Afterward, to buy her parents a little more nap time, I took her to the park right next to our chapel by their pavilion and sports area.
We ate lunch at the apartment and we made burritos with the homemade tortillas from Trader Joes. Wow! they were really good and so much better than the store brands. Then we headed to the beach to the Santa Monica pier. I wanted Lucy to get the full beach experience. She waded in the waves with her dad and we built a sandcastle,  dug and found sand crabs and watched them swim and dig into the sand, buried her in the sand, made her a mermaid tail, and collected shells. We arrived there around 3 ish and left abt 6 ish. My friends went and got Chinese food for dinner. We had an evening chilling out and getting to bed at an early hour.  we were all pretty exhausted.

I brought some containers from home and some cooking spoons and plastic cup sin lieu of beach toys which I didn't have.

Jumpin waves with Dad.

working on her sand castle.

We found three of them. this one was the biggest. Lucy loved the way they tickled her hand.

thanks to my friend Shaun who got pictures of me

My dress got wet, which prevented it from blowing around. I found out later that I could have worn capris or knee-length shorts which I will do next time.

The Little Mermaid

The new sun hat that I bought at the pier when Shaun and I were there in June. it worked really well at Disneyland.
