The Family Search Library
Well today was my first full day at the Library.
I am not used to sitting all day and doing mental work . I was fighting falling asleep at various times. SO I had to get up and walk around a bit or do something different.
Today I was catching up on all the refferrals to the missionaries.
I learned how to run the front desk, the cash register, and take count of all the patrons.
Tomorrow I will start working on going through the different excercises in my training book.
Apparently we can work on our own family history search or writing family history stories, as long as there are not patrons who are needing our help.
In any event it was along day.... I briefly met with the mission president at the end of the day again . This was so he could authorize me to access the refferrals via computer. He informed me too that the Ap's (assistant to the president) could help update my phone with all the companionships and their phone numbers quickly. Plus then when they have transfers, they could also update any changes.
That will be much better than my tediously typing in teh information via my hunt and peck technique.
I told him that I think I needed more activity or challenge. I am not as sendantary as a lot of the other Senior couples. He asked me to meet Friday with him and the Church representative (who is over the teaching English as a second language program). He wants me to help teach English and be a prototype for the program throughout the mission boundaries. I dont' know all of what that would entail as of yet, but that would be a lot of fun and allow me to be creative and interact with others more. I am a people person and a teacher, not so much interacting with a computer all day.
Of course Family stories and history are interesting.
Anyway Pres Cordon (from Guatemala) also has not decided on what ward to assign me to yet.
I told him I was happy to go whereever, it didn't have to be Chinese speaking.
He is still talking with various leaders to see who can use my help the most.
Anyway that is hopeful to have something else to break up my day.
In any event I ate luch alone because everyone takes a different lunch shift , my companion that I shadow, went home for lunch. She did her house work. She is hosting an FHE Familly home evening at her apt tonight. Tomorrow I think I will go eat outside on the grounds somewhere and take a stroll and get some fresh air. The weather has been wonderful so far and I am so HAPPY not to be sweltering in the heat of a Utah July.
Anyway I was supposed to aquaint myself with the Libray resouces today so I am going to give you a virtual tour so to speak.
Sorry i guess my phone hasn't syched with google yet so this is a brief commercial.
I got to take my friend's kids to the Princess Festival . The girls were thrilled with the dresses I was able to obtain for them at half price. (I know the couple who sponsors the event) Anyway they had a good time . I would loved to have taken my granddaughters too, but they have too busy of a schedule it seems.
