Mission report #2

Well so far so good , I have  received lots of hugs from all the Sisters. So nice to have young adults around who respect me.

I was a little surprised by my schedule because the head librarian told me I would Only work six hour shifts. It is more like 8:45-5  or 2-9 . I hope
i can keep up.

Wow there a lot to learn here.  I have been in the family history training class for two days from 8 to 4:30
I have fallen asleep sitting in my chair more than once. My brain is trying to absorb what it can.

I arrives at 1:30 am Tues Am . morning.
I will probably repeat the training again. I managed a nap during lunch the first day.

Tomorrow I shadow another Single Sister who is going to show me the ropes so yo speak.

Another Sister trained me tonight i. How to send refferrals out to the elders/ sisters via computer.

I have surprised the heck out of all the Mandarin speaking Missionaries, by talking with them a little bit in mandarin. They really light up.

Anyway I am tired but i imagine once my gut settles down and I get a mattress topper that gives me a more comfortable sleep that will help.

I got some more dishes and things from the Sister over housing. So I am pretty set in that regard.  Unfortunately (I didn't realize) my freezer wasn't turned up enough before I left two weeks ago. So all the meat and frozen fruit for smoothies that I stocked it with spoiled ☹️.

I loved all the stories they told at the family search training.
I met a gal next to me who was married to a Chinese man and doing research for his family. He passed away in 2002. She was a librarian for years. Sister Y.

Anyway we totally hit it off and got talking.
I was able to share with her my recorded Chinese family history classes from Roots tec and the picture of the power point slides. She really appreciated it. I am sure it was orchestrated by Heaven.

Anyway we became fast friends and ended going out for dinner at a fantastic dim sum place nearby. She insisted on oaying the bill. That was
Surprising.
We have a  full time Chinese Family search volunteer?  She Sister W Told us about it. She is from Taiwan and is just terrific. .

We Sister Y and I talked till 10 pm. Today we found out that we are ninth cousins. Laughing out loud

Anyway I  met the mission presidents wife today, she is really sweet.  and saw
 (Elder Cordon from Guatemala) briefly.

I am supposed to meet with him at 2 pm Friday.  I guess I will find out what ward:branch  that I will be assigned too. Other than that I have no idea what the meeting is about.

I think it will be ok here. I just wish the shifts were a bit shorter. We will see. The weather , breeze and sunshine Are very welcome and enjoyable. My apartment is nice and I am pretty settled. The tround

Nice to be around so many positive and enjoyable people.

I still have to pinch myself to believe I am really here.
