Mission Report #1 from July 2nd 2019
Hi all.
I am Having a great time. Amazing place!
Food is delicious. Accommodations are nice.
All the classes are like pam Fran and Kim teaching SS but on steroids .
Letter is a bit scattered. Sorry.
I have been waiting 41 years to put on my badge. I have to laugh because they accidentally made me four of them!
We heard a general authority tonight. I can't remember his name (Brother Clark) but great talk on bearing testimony of the Savior more often . Shared some awesome missionary stories.
The MTC Choir sang "how lovely was the morning" it was so glorious , a wonderful arrangement. It was done with such fervor and feeling. The choir took up all the bleachers!
We have ninety seniors here. We got front row seats!
We have gotten to watch several exclusive videos made just for the MTC.
Many of the videos are the apostles teaching us. The real meat of the gospel. Elder Bednar’s he character of Christ that he gave at BYU Idaho is must see!
Wow-what a treat! Better than Edc week.
I Met a delightful Tongan couple said hello to them in Tongan they were surprised.
They both lost their spouses a few years ago. They met each other in the St George temple in 2017. Married in 2018 and are now going on a mission to Tonga. She is a nurse. They both had wanted to serve missions but their spouse's ill health had prevented it. So newlyweds going on a mission. They are awesome. They encouraged me to move to Saint George. Said I would meet my spouse there. Laughing out loud
In fact, all the couples and single sisters are just all so lovely, gracious and kind. The men are a total kick and half. It is so lovely to see their personalities. So many good Priesthood holders here.
I have a companion during the day. Sister C...... We have our own rooms. She lost her husband seven years ago. He died before they could go in their mission. She was given a blessing and told that he would be with her on her mission. She started crying so I patted her back and gave her Kleenex. She is a very sweet older lady. She's going to SLC family history also.
In fact, a whole bunch of sisters are going there.
I have only met one other missionary going to LA. He is learning to speak Farsi.
Anyway, it has been great hearing everyone's stories and testimonies of why they are going on a mission now.
We are all missing our grand-babies!
So we have started talking about how to maintain a relationship with them.
Anyway, it has been so peaceful here. So nice to just be able to be gospel focused and away from worldly distractions!
I just can't get over the many younger missionaries here. I still haven't found Nathanel Awerkamp (he took care of my garden) but I met some missionaries who know him.
Word if advice break your good new shoes in more before wearing them here. I got a huge blister in my pinky toe and abrasions on the next ones over. So I have been limping around shuffling shoes to avoid aggravating it.
So I take my shoes off whenever possible.
SHhh, don’t tell.
It takes some getting used to wearing church clothes all day but it is nice to dress up. Glad I don't have to wear a suit! Dresses are much cooler than jeans.
Anyway, I am a bit tired and achy from sitting so much during classes. However, between the footstool and bum cushion I brought, I am doing pretty well. My chiropractor gave me a free adjustment before I came here.
The Rooms are very nice. I have already frequented the bookstore for Supplies ans a pin for my lapel of the LA mission.
I will have a great view of the fireworks on Thursday .
We also got to sing as a congregation tonight
Called to serve. Wow so thrilling.... so many of us!
Anyway, I am learning lots. The small group districts? We are in, really help a lot so we get to share a lot. Love it!
Oh, and I saw Brother Ivins here tonight. Our former stake president.
Below is my friend’s daughter who is going to Thailand. She was adopted from mainland China also like my kids.
Well, morning comes early around here so I need to get some sleep.
Over and out Sister Cassani
