Back Tracking.. Back to school night themed potluck CLAM Dinner. Storytelling activity of course

So every month we have what is referred to as the CLAM Dinner. California Los Angeles Mission.
It is usually held on the last or 4th Monday of the month. In September I and another Sister Missionary, (Who arrived a week after I did) and a couple from the VC (Visitor's center) helped put this on. We decided on a super healthy salad bar, and the Missionary couple decided to bring ribs too for the men, well all of us actually.
I decorated with the new toys from the Library that has just arrived that month. So now we have a children's corner in the library where there are learning activities, books about families to read,, and toys for younger children to play with. We have a few computers set up beside it so that Parents can work near where their children are playing. It is a big improvement.

we wanted to show and tell about the new materials to the other missionaries.

I did a fake classroom chalkboard/ dry erase board incorporating everyone's surname into the writings on the board.

As usual, we had too many desserts, but no one was complaining.
For our activity I had each person take 2-3 minutes to share with us there most unusual, or interesting job (in honor of labor day) or share a story about their favorite teacher and tell us why they were their favorite. For the Back to School theme. Surprisingly many stayed clear until 8 pm and everyone enjoyed the stories very much. I felt like it helped us to get to know each other better also.
I was surprised by those who had a past theater life... I would never have guessed.
